About

The world is falling apart. What is to be done?

For many years, independent filmmakers from Asia and the Asian diaspora have been actively critiquing their communities’ social injustices, political crises, gender and sexual inequities, and personal and familial traumas. More recently, an increasing number of works have paid attention to how individuals and communities can begin to heal and restore their personal and social bodies as well as their interdependent relationships.

Many of these films have been featured in festivals including the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), Berlinale, Locarno, Yamagata, and Singapore. Nonetheless, they are sometimes overlooked by London and UK programmers, as these films are often not represented by major sales agents or may not fit the larger visions of established film festivals and programmes.

Re:Mind not only introduces these films to London and the UK but also actively fosters a sense of community through screenings, conversations with filmmakers, as well as mindfulness workshops and audience discussions.

The festival is organised with the support of the Film Studies Department at King’s College London.
